RES developed the Blue Heron Permittee-Responsible Mitigation (PRM) to support the expansion of a Luck Stone project site.
After identifying the 175-acre mitigation site, the team proposed restoring approximately 2,054 linear feet of the stream through the design, construction, and preservation of a stable meandering system with an appropriate width/depth ratio, substrate, and stable banks. Installed features such as brush toes, constructed riffles, log and rock sills, and pools of varying depths will help improve native wildlife habitats and populations.
An additional 4,738 linear feet of stream will be enhanced through mitigation activities that include bank grading and floodplain benching to enhance hydrologic regimes, installation of in-stream structures to increase hydrologic access to the floodplain, enhancement of bedforms, and improvement of habitat and stability, and the eradication and control of invasive vegetation species.
Establishing a conservation easement will preserve over 10,000 linear feet of high-quality existing streams.
