The Foggy Bottom Wetland Mitigation Bank provides compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional wetlands authorized by the USACE Louisville District. It also supports mitigation for isolated wetland impacts regulated by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management within the Upper White River Watershed.
Ecological Impact
Together, these habitats enhance water quality, improve flood storage capacity, and provide critical wildlife habitat within the watershed. This project is designed to establish a natural, self-sustaining wetland complex in the Cabin Creek watershed. Restoration efforts include:
- Re-establishing the groundwater table
- Restoring 15 acres of flatwoods (PFO)
- Creating 32 acres of emergent wetlands (PEM)
- Developing 35 acres of mesic and wet-mesic prairie
