Contracted by the General Services Administration (GSA), RES is currently involved in a comprehensive project to create and manage a six-acre wetland area, intended to offset environmental impacts associated with the Rouse Point Land Port of Entry (LPOE). This initiative encompasses various stages, including land acquisition, design, construction, maintenance, and ongoing monitoring.

The primary objective of this wetland mitigation project is to address the wetland impacts resulting from the modernization of the Rouses Point LPOE, which is being undertaken to enhance border security, streamline Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations, and ensure the safety of CBP Officers. The new LPOE, located approximately one-half mile south of the border, will serve as a crucial point for international rail passenger crossings in the United States, with the unique capability of conducting onsite passenger inspections.

In alignment with sustainability goals, the project emphasizes environmentally conscious practices. This includes designing the LPOE to minimize disruption to the surrounding wetland ecology while incorporating innovative features such as an all-electric, net-zero energy-ready facility with geothermal heating and cooling systems. Additionally, using carbon-sequestering mass-timber building materials further underscores the commitment to sustainable construction practices.
