The Kingman Wetland Mitigation Bank was established to provide high-quality compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to wetlands, as authorized by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers within Bank Service Area 9.

Spanning 308.2 acres, the Bank is designed to restore and sustain a diverse range of wetland functions. Restoration efforts focus on re-establishing inland deep fresh marsh, fresh (wet) meadow, and inland shallow fresh marsh habitats.

Ecological Impact

Through these efforts, the Kingman Bank strengthens ecological resilience while supporting regulatory requirements for wetland conservation and mitigation. In addition to enhancing wetland functions, the Kingman Bank will:

  • Increase native plant diversity, supporting pollinators and other wildlife.
  • Provide critical stopover habitat for migratory birds.
  • Reduce nitrogen and phosphorus discharges, improving the health of the local watershed.
