The Olsen Desert Tortoise Full Delivery/ Turnkey Mitigation site is a pending conservation bank designed to offer off-site compensatory mitigation for projects that impact the Mojave desert tortoise, desert wash habitat, and wildlife corridors. Strategically located within the Western Mojave Desert Tortoise Recovery Unit, the site is positioned to play a vital role in advancing the recovery of the federally threatened Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), a species of critical concern to both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Currently in the early stages of conservation bank development, the 322-acre site can also serve as a turnkey, PRM, or full delivery mitigation solution for projects requiring compliance with habitat conservation requirements. Beyond its primary focus on the desert tortoise, the Olsen Desert Tortoise Mitigation site also has the potential to support mitigation efforts for additional species and ecosystems, including the Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Desert Wash ecosystems, and Bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis nelsoni), enhancing its ecological and conservation value.

Looking for species mitigation solutions? Once approved, the Olsen Desert Tortoise Mitigation site will offer both PRM and conservation bank credits. These flexible options will help developers, agencies, and infrastructure projects meet regulatory compliance requirements while contributing to the long-term protection of sensitive desert ecosystems. Contact us to discuss how the Olsen Desert Tortoise Mitigation site can support your mitigation needs.
