The Ridge Cut Giant Garter Snake Conservation Bank was established to provide mitigation for impacts to the state and federally-threatened giant garter snake (Thamnophis gigas; GGS). The Bank is situated on a 2,400-acre property that abuts the Colusa Basin Drainage Canal within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-designated Colusa Basin Recovery Unit.

The bank provides 185.9 acres of GGS habitat, consisting of a mosaic of open water, perennial marsh, and upland habitat components. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the bank in 2010 with a service area encompassing portions of Solano, Yolo, Colusa, Glenn, and Tehama counties.
