The Rye Valley Farm Nutrient Bank spans 154 acres and is located in a predominantly agricultural area with some low-density residential development. The project is designed to improve water quality in the Holston Watershed by reducing nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment runoff. This is achieved through the strategic conversion of hay and pastureland into forested areas, enhancing natural filtration processes in nearby tributaries.
Forest establishment and planting are underway across the site. All restoration activities will be conducted in accordance with the site’s Deed of Restrictions, ensuring long-term protection and ecological integrity.
