The bank’s goals are to enhance the vegetation of 267 acres of relic wet pine savanna and Carolina Bay through prescribed burning, mechanical treatment, and chemical treatment as necessary and to preserve 248 acres of fully functional Carolina bay and relic wet pine savanna. This site provides preferred conditions for many rare and endemic plant species in the Southeastern United States and added 754.19 acres to the Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve.
