New Jersey
PLACES

RES expanded into New Jersey in 2016 to bring its unique expertise and wide range of solutions to the most densely populated state in country.
Despite New Jersey’s population of over 9 million, widespread development and its industrial history, the Garden State boasts an extraordinary mix of ecological resources across its 1.5 million acres of open space – from the deep forests in the northwest of the upper Delaware River, down through fertile farmlands of the central plain and on through the famous Pinelands to the coast of Delaware Bay. New Jersey boasts over 130 miles of Atlantic Coast with its popular beachfront, over 1,700 miles of tidal shorelines in the Atlantic back bays and Delaware Bay and over 18,000 miles of rivers and streams.
With roughly 70% of New Jersey’s population located near its shorelines, ecological solutions that promote resilience in the face of climate change impacts are becoming more important than ever. This is in addition to the need to address increasing impacts to drinking water sources and waterways, as the state seeks to promote smart growth, habitat preservation and the redevelopment of lands and infrastructure from its historic industrial past.
RES offers several ecological solutions to address the challenges faced by New Jersey, including “green infrastructure” and nature-based strategies.
- Mix of hard and soft engineering approaches
- Cutting edge stormwater BMPs
- Banking solutions to address wetland, riparian and species mitigation as well as nutrient reduction
