RES is excited to announce the approval of the initial credit release for the Richards Property Mitigation Bank, a key ecological restoration project in northern Kentucky. Located on 75 acres of a 348-acre parcel owned by The Nature Conservancy near Sadieville, the Richards Property Mitigation Bank focuses on restoring degraded streams and riparian habitats in the headwaters of the Eagle Creek Watershed.

This approval marks a significant milestone for RES, as the Richards Property Mitigation Bank is the company’s first approved stream mitigation bank in Kentucky. The initial credit release of stream mitigation credits provides a crucial resource for developers seeking environmental offsets in Service Area 6 of northern Kentucky.

The mitigation bank employs natural channel design and innovative restoration techniques to rehabilitate over 15,000 linear feet of intermittent and ephemeral headwater streams. The project aims to reverse decades of damage caused by agricultural practices such as stream channelization, deforestation, and pasture grazing.

The Richards Property Mitigation Bank is strategically positioned within the ecologically significant Eagle Creek Watershed, which supports various aquatic and terrestrial species. Restoration efforts at the site include replanting riparian buffers, further enhancing wildlife habitat and improving water quality downstream.
