CPRA’s Grand Liard Ridge Restoration Project lies at the end of a 6 ½ mile boat ride from Joshua’s Marina in Buras, Louisiana. CPRA built a ridge along Bayou Grand Liard and put out its second RFB to plant the ridge since its construction. This planting involved 3,650 one-gallon trees composed of 7 ridge species for the purpose of stabilizing the ridge, preventing erosion, and providing habitat for wildlife. The trees were custom-grown from seed at the Nicholls State University nursery. RES delivered, maintained, and installed these trees over the course of 7 days on site.

The installation process involved delineating suitable planting areas, planting the trees, installing 6’ – 8’ x 2” x 2” posts, 30” tree protectors, aluminum tags with the species scribed on them, and grow tape to support the taller specimens. An As-Built documenting each row with GPS data, the species composition, and project mapping was required. In addition to this, RES developed data files delineating what trees were planted on each row each day by species and provided 70 pictures that were strategically marked and positioned to further record each row. The ridge restoration work was completed in June 2020.
