RES Sponsors #DamBusters, a Global Documentary on River Restoration
New film captures the worldwide movement to remove obsolete dams and reconnect rivers
April 30, 2026
Resource Environmental Solutions (RES), the nation’s largest ecological restoration company, is a sponsor of #DamBusters, a new documentary from Magen Entertainment that follows the global effort to remove obsolete dams and restore rivers. The film is now streaming worldwide in 15 languages at magenentertainment.com/dambusters.
#DamBusters arrives at a turning point for river restoration. In Europe, communities and agencies removed 542 river barriers in 2024 alone. In the United States, the Klamath River dam removals marked the largest project of their kind in the country’s history. Smaller removals occur across watersheds every season, often out of public view. The film documents this work on the ground, in the water, and through the people doing it.
RES has been part of this movement for years, working as a designer and/or contractor on dam removals across Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. In 2024, the company led the Carpentersville Dam removal on the Fox River outside Chicago, the first concrete dam removal on that river, and a partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. On the Klamath River, RES serves as the restoration contractor for the Klamath River Renewal Corporation, leading ecological restoration following the dam removals across more than 400 miles of reopened anadromous fish habitat.
“Every dam removal looks different. Carpentersville was a 19th-century concrete dam in suburban Chicago. The Klamath restoration covers hundreds of river miles and the cultural heritage of multiple tribes. #DamBusters captures that range, and the fact that this work is happening everywhere, all at once,” said Kathy Hoverman, Dam Removal Expert at RES.
#DamBusters is available to watch in 15 languages at magenentertainment.com/dambusters.
